Sleightly Phunny

After a remarkable journey of opening for big names and hosting countless shows that turned Courtyard Koota into a hub of laughter, Sandeep Nanu finally stepped into the spotlight with his highly anticipated one-hour show, Sleightly Phunny. This unique comedy experience combined a language lesson with an opportunity for Sandeep to showcase his incredible knack for making people laugh.

With over 20 packed performances at Malhar Laugh Club in just two years, it was high time Sandeep had his own hour on stage—and he definitely earned it! The audience was treated to a delightful mix of humor, charm, and a hint of familiarity, as some jokes may have echoed from his previous 30-minute set, Sand & Brik, and his many opening acts. But let’s be real: everyone recycles their best material, and Sandeep’s punchlines were delivered with such flair that no one minded a bit!

The show was not just about the laughs; it was a celebration of Sandeep’s journey as a highly optimistic individual who bravely ventured into stand-up with no formal background—aside from the occasional bad pun at social gatherings. Instead of succumbing to the challenges posed by the pandemic, Nanu emerged stronger, acquiring three new skills: bird photography, snake rescues, and, of course, stand-up comedy.

The atmosphere at Sleightly Phunny was electric, filled with laughter and camaraderie as the community came together to support a local talent who has become a cherished figure in the comedy scene. There were plenty of surprises along the way, and Sandeep’s quick wit ensured that even the hecklers were met with a clever comeback.

Hosted by the wonderful Sreedevi Ajayan, the evening was a resounding success, leaving everyone eager for more. Sleightly Phunny proved to be more than just a comedy show; it was a heartfelt celebration of resilience, creativity, and the power of laughter in our community.
