Tailored to the unique ambiance of Courtyard Koota, this performance masterfully combines the traditional martial art of Kalaripayattu with contemporary dance, promising an unforgettable artistic experience.

ATTAKKALARI MOBILE ACADEMY

“Contemporary Expressions In Dance – Open Day with Attakkalari” is an initiative as part of, ATTAKKALARI MOBILE ACADEMY, taking dance to the community. Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts has been working extensively to bring dance education to schools and colleges across Bangalore and beyond with its Mobile Academy. The Mobile Academy aims to extend arts and dance education to a much wider community that stretches across Bangalore’s and India’s educational system at various levels. For over two decades Attakkalari’s Education Outreach Programme has worked to expand dance education and make it accessible to people from diverse communities and social contexts. Even though the dance classes have been primarily geared toward contemporary dance, the Mobile Academy offers many other modules such as Choreography, Kalarippayattu, Bharatanatyam and Yoga.

ATTAKKALARI CENTRE FOR MOVEMENT ARTS

Established in 2001 in Bengaluru, Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts is India's leading contemporary dance and cultural organisation, with initiatives in dance education, training, research, archiving, choreography, productions, performances, festivals, incubation of new works, international exchanges, collaborations, and stage technologies. The unique education programme at Attakkalari is driven by the motto "Traditional Physical Wisdom, Innovation, and Technology" and draws inspiration from the somatic knowledge of Indian physical and performance traditions acquired through years of research and practise, along with the latest developments from the international dance and performing arts scene. This has given rise to a generation of dancers and movement artists who have produced many seminal works and contributed to the changing visage of live arts nationally and internationally.
