An intimate space for the Arts
What lingers much after an event is its experience – and the performance space shapes this experience, making the whole greater than a sum of its parts. Courtyard Koota was designed with this awareness to offer a bespoke, intimate space for a theatre, music, or dance production, a book launch, film screening, talk, or seminar. With its acoustically treated auditorium that seats 80 people and warm and casual break-out spaces for informal interaction, Courtyard Koota serves varied events and user groups.
We are located in the Good Earth Malhar ecovillage, Kengeri, 1.5 kms off Mysore Road (near Kengeri Metro station). The neighborhood is a mix of residences and institutions, with the Rajarajeswari Medical College and ACS Engineering College nearby.
Spaces @ Koota
The Auditorium
An acoustically treated 80-seater auditorium with stepped seating to ensure better viewing lines. It is equipped with a state-of-the-art sound and lighting system which can be modified to suit the requirements of the performance or session, as well as a projector for presentations. The Library
A naturally lit and ventilated space, home to the Malhar Library, it can be used for workshops, art exhibitions, informal performances and book readings. The space is flexible and can be configured to have cozy nooks or be one large area. It measures 22 feet by 40 feet and has track lighting, suitable for art displays.
Break-out spaces
We have 3 break-out spaces – each with its own energy and configuration suited to specific gatherings.
The Lounge
The entry to Courtyard Koota is casual and serves as a break out for both the auditorium as well as the library. It can be arranged as an exhibition space, for art installations or simply as a gathering spot between other activities.
The Courtyard
Flanked by a pergola, this semi-covered courtyard is perfect for small group discussions and for hands-on or messy workshops. It is also the place used to serve refreshments.
The Garden
An L-shaped strip of greenery wrapping around the south eastern side of Koota, with a Gulmohar tree offering shade, it can seat 25-30 people, arranged around tables for 4. The Garden is ideal for outdoor sessions, lunch and tea breaks, and quiet discussions.
Koota curates and hosts programs, and is also available on hire for private programs and corporate gatherings.
Facilities @ Koota
- Courtyard Koota has a fully equipped pantry with cutlery and crockery, a refrigerator, tea/coffee making, and reheating facilities.
- We have two restrooms within the space and two more that are shared.
- A Green Room leads from the auditorium, with a restroom and changing facilities for the artists.
- Props and furniture are available for use across the spaces.
We are located on the ground floor. Our premises are wheelchair accessible; a lift and ramp are available for use. There is limited off-street and basement parking.
