This workshop explores some of the core ideas in Kabir's poetry through songs, poetry and conversations, including inviting participants to immerse in the folk form of Kabir through learning to sing a few songs.

The sessions will focus on key themes that appear in Kabir's poetry, such as love, the importance of the body, death, impermanence and/or awareness. Songs and poems around these themes will be shared and participants will have an opportunity to immerse and exchange, as well as learn a few folk songs of Kabir, in order to sing together and experience the power of the song in the body, collectively, exploring the meanings of the song in multiple ways. No prior experience of singing or training in music is necessary.

The workshop will be facilitated by Vipul Rikhi. Vipul is a writer, singer, storyteller, translator, dancer and meditator, immersed in the oral traditions of Kabir and other Bhakti and Sufi poets for over a decade. He is the author of several books of poetry, fiction and translation. He sings mystic poetry in the folk music traditions and performs widely.
