Nool Koota stories or 'yarn about yarn' with Sandhya Srinivasan Come and tell us your story about yarn! Any piece of fabric - cloth- stitched-unstitched that you may have worked on or have a memory attached- share it with us! People from the different Malhar communities are part of a group of beginner and experienced crocheters and knitters, collectively called the 'Nool Koota'. The group came together initially to make woollens for premature babies in a hospital in Jharkhand, but are now making everything from doilies to blankets to octopii to Christmas decorations. We have been meeting for the past 3 years, once a week regularly before the pandemic, and then a few times online, and now have restarted our sessions at the Courtyard. The pleasure of sitting with a group of people and sharing lots of laughter while hard at work creating something with yarn is something everyone has learnt to appreciate, and it makes people come back for more each week. We had just one man with us for a while and now we are a group of women but we are still, with hope, using the word 'people' instead of 'women'. With a bigger group, we hope to add a few evening sessions too. During this session, you will see some of our creations and hear some of our yarns about yarn. Cost: INR 100 About Sandhya After 10 years of working in the Corporate and Software Development sector, Sandhya Srinivasan switched tracks and joined the NGO/Development sector. She now freelances as a Communication Consultant with several NGOs. Sandhya founded Sakshara Trust which is a nonprofit organisation that provides literacy and other essential skills to enhance a person's quality of life so that they contribute effectively to society. Sandhya is busy sharing her knowledge of crochet, knitting, quilting, weaving and embroidery with others in the community.
