Snipette Fundraiser

Snipette is a quarterly magazine run by a group of teenagers and young adults with authors of various nationalities from all walks of life. In a digital world which is cluttered with information, the articles in Snipette are curated and edited to present a topic in its breadth and depth, leaving the reader better informed and curious to learn more.

As with any new initiative, Snipette needs to grow their audience and also needs funds to sustain their effort.

Courtyard Koota is proud to host this group of committed and energetic young people in their endeavor. Do come and support them at this event. The proceeds collected at this event will give you a digital subscription to Snipette for a year. If you buy three tickets, you will get a subscription of the hard copy for a year. Details of the subscription will be updated at the venue.

Chemical Make Up

To celebrate their 5th anniversary, they will be presenting material from their article “Chemical Makeup”, written by environmental lawyer Pamela Lazos, counsel to the US Environment Protection Agency and one of their long-time Snipette writers.

During the process, they will explore the many aspects of chemicals in our cosmetics—including how small amounts can have lasting effects, and how testing for safety can end up moving the burden from humans onto animals. Harmful substances in makeup is not a new problem, though, as they will show through a flashback to ancient Egypt!

About Snipette

Our aim is to explain the world in an accessible and simple way - we write non fiction articles with elements from fiction such as mystery, suspense, and metaphors.

The Snipette editing process is very collaborative; we as editors often dive in and write passages or even restructure articles to help our authors shape their pieces, while also including their inputs. Our aim is to empower aspiring writers, whether they are schoolchildren wanting to get their words published or researchers trying to share their work with a non-academic audience. For the less confident, we have a Writers Programme too to guide them all the way through.
