Vivek Santhosh Trio is an experimental jazz and contemporary music band. The band adheres to the traditional jazz trio format, with Piano, Bass and Drums played by Vivek Santhosh, Bruthuva Caleb and Rijil Dharman respectively. Our repertoire is mostly originals. The group was formed in 2014 and since then we’ve been performing regularly in clubs, corporate/private gigs and various music festivals across the country.
Vivek is the founding member of the trio. He is a classically trained pianist with an LTCL (Licentiate of Trinity College London) Diploma Certificate, in it. He was very much fascinated by the progressive and improvised musical forms and started exploring these later on. He is also a Carnatic musician with a Masters Degree. As a band leader, he handles the composing and arranging department of the group.
Raghuraman is someone who believes in doing everything in the arts that he has a passion in. Music has always been part and parcel of his life since childhood. Coming From a Musically focused family, he took up veena lessons at a very early age. When he discovered his love for the guitar many years later this early foundation proved a very important fuel. Raghu is completely self-taught in Playing all the instruments that he does play. Being well versed in many different genres of music makes performing and teaching a fun experience for him. Focussed and reliable, he has been involved with session work since 2011 for both guitar and bass guitar requirements.
Rijil is a fantastic drummer and a percussionist. He joined the group a little later in 2014. He has also gone through formal education in music. The speciality of his playing is that he really understands the music and plays it beautifully the way it demands. The wise implementation of his knowledge in South Indian music percussion into drumming makes it more special. Vivek Santhosh Trio believes in uniqueness. We present that through our music.
